Red, Yellow, Green Kopp

 Session 9

You can find the tracking sheets the presenter uses to track student performance on her website.

When working to involve students in the assessment process.

1.  Start with identifying the learning targets.

2.  Write the indicator/learning target in kid friendly terms.  Using "I can..." statements is helpful.

3.  Create a method of tracking and student monitoring.

Teacher has students color code this with green, yellow and red as they work with the tracking sheet.

When you look at all of the indicators for a unit of study over time, you will see students move from red to green over time.  You may even consider placing dates inside the boxes.

Creating a culture that supports this:

-teach students to accept strengths and weaknesses

     -conference about discrepancies

-differentiate once you know where students are
